How Hard Times Revealed My Real Circle

Sometimes you don't truly know who's in your corner until life knocks you down.

12/07/2026

There are moments in life that quietly change the way you see people forever.

Not the moments when you're celebrating.

Not when life feels easy.

Not when everything is going to plan.

It's during the hardest seasons that you discover who is really walking beside you.

Looking back now, I realise that some of life's greatest lessons didn't come from the difficult moments themselves.

They came from the people who stood beside me while I was living through them.

There was a time when I believed having a large circle meant I was surrounded by support.

Life taught me otherwise.

Hard times have a way of stripping everything back.

Your priorities change.

Your perspective changes.

And sometimes…

So do the people around you.

Some friendships naturally faded.

Some people quietly disappeared.

Others remained, even when they didn't know what to say.

At first, I questioned it.

I wondered if I had done something wrong.

If I should have tried harder.

If I should have reached out more.

But over time, I realised something important.

Not every friendship is meant to last forever.

Some people are part of a chapter.

Others become part of your story.

Through some of the hardest seasons of my life, I discovered that friendship isn't measured by how often someone sees you.

It's measured by who remembers you when life becomes difficult.

Some of my closest friends live on the other side of the world.

The friend who sends a message just to check in.

The one who sits with you in silence because there are no words.

The one who celebrates your small victories when you can barely see them yourself.

The one who reminds you that you're stronger than you feel.

Those moments may seem small.

But they become unforgettable.

I also learned something about myself.

There were times when I withdrew from the people who cared about me most.

Not because I didn't love them.

But because I didn't know how to explain what I was carrying.

Sometimes I convinced myself I was a burden.

Sometimes pretending I was okay felt easier than admitting I wasn't.

If you've ever had a friend disappear for a little while, don't always assume they don't care.

Sometimes they're simply trying to survive.

I'm grateful for the friends who understood that.

The ones who gave me space without giving up on me.

As I slowly rebuilt my life, I realised something else.

A real circle isn't built on convenience.

It's built on loyalty.

Trust.

Honesty.

Respect.

It's built by people who celebrate your wins without jealousy.

People who tell you the truth with kindness.

People who believe in your dreams before anyone else can see them.

People who remind you who you are when you've forgotten yourself.

Those are the friendships that become part of your foundation.

There are people in my life who may never truly know how much they helped me.

The friend who answered the phone.

The one who checked in when everyone else had gone quiet.

The one who encouraged me to keep believing in my dream.

The one who simply showed up.

You know who you are.

Thank you.

Your kindness mattered more than you will ever know.

Building Unbroken Athletica has reminded me that no dream is ever built alone.

While my name may be attached to this brand, there are people behind the scenes who have believed in me through every setback, every late night, every moment of self-doubt, and every small milestone.

Whether they realised it or not, they became part of this journey too.

This dream carries pieces of every conversation, every encouraging message, every coffee shared, every hug, and every "You've got this" that came exactly when I needed it.

If life has taught me anything, it's this.

Hard times don't just reveal your strength.

They reveal your people.

So don't measure your life by the number of friends you have.

Measure it by the people who stay when life becomes difficult.

The people who celebrate your success without making it about themselves.

The people who remind you to keep going when you've forgotten why you started.

The people who never ask for anything in return.

Hold onto those people.

Tell them you appreciate them.

Don't wait until it's too late.

Because life moves quickly.

And sometimes the greatest gift we'll ever receive isn't the absence of hardship.

It's knowing we never had to face it alone.

As I look around my life today, I don't see a large circle.

I see the right circle.

A circle built on love.

Loyalty.

Honesty.

Grace.

And the quiet strength of people who chose to stay.

For that, I will always be grateful.
